Mystery of the Borobudur Temple UFO Relief and Prophet Sulaiman's Flying Saucer

| UFO Sighting

Debating about the phenomenon of the presence of aliens in human life is endless. After the uproar over the appearance of crop circles in a rice field in Berbah, Sleman in 2014, news emerged that mentioned the existence of the Borobudur Temple UFO relief. There have been claims that the Buddhist place of worship in Magelang is a sophisticated flying saucer type vehicle belonging to the Prophet Sulaiman.

UFO Help Sightings

Borobudur Temple was built by the Sailendra dynasty from the Ancient Mataram Kingdom in the 8th century. The reliefs of this Mahayana Buddhist temple mostly feature animal shapes carved along with a series of mysterious objects.

In one of the carvings there is a picture of an elephant and a horse flying under two celestial bodies. The first object at the top right takes the shape of a wheel. Meanwhile, to the left there is an object that resembles a semicircular disc. Both are depicted in a position flanked by a building structure similar to a palace pillar.

The appearance of the disc after the circle is then believed to be evidence of the UFO relief at Borobudur Temple. Its existence is compared to the palaces and flying horse-drawn chariots that appear in the ancient Ramayana text. This is very reasonable considering the strong influence of the Dharma tradition from India.

Prophet Solomon's Flying Saucer

In contrast to scientific findings regarding the influence of religions from India, some people actually believe in the myth of Prophet Solomon's flying saucer. The contents describe Borobudur Temple as part of an ancient Islamic kingdom called Saba which was ruled by Queen Balqis and King Sulaiman, a king and prophet in the Islamic religion. The king is said to have built a flying palace in the form of a temple with the help of an army of jinn.

The controversial theory about Prophet Sulaiman's flying saucer was first put forward by an Islamic mathematician named Fahmi Basya in 2012. According to him, Borobudur was a type of flying vehicle that contained valuable treasures. It is very likely that the public's perception of the Borobudur Temple UFO relief comes from this belief.

Scenes from the Life of the Buddha

The argument about Prophet Solomon's flying saucer has undoubtedly received criticism from researchers and academics. They consider the theory of Borobudur as an advanced space vehicle not based on the correct scientific context.

According to archaeological research that has been carried out over the years by many scientists, the reliefs of Borobudur Temple actually depict the process of acculturation of the Buddha's life with Javanese culture. Therefore, the presence of fauna has an important role as a marker of location, time, transportation and decoration.

Apart from the images of elephants and flying horses on the relief carvings of Borobudur Temple which are the topic of discussion, there are still five other carved objects. One of them is a semicircular disc which turns out to be a gemstone. The seven carvings symbolize the seven qualities of a Cakrawartin or ideal ruler in Dharma religions.

Ancient and majestic buildings are often associated with mysterious stories and apparitions that are difficult to explain scientifically. Borobudur Temple, which is a masterpiece of the ancestors of the Indonesian people, is not free from myths that can twist common sense. The emergence of the Borobudur Temple UFO relief myth is perhaps just one of the many ways modern society interprets things they don't know about from the past.
